Hamlet Response Journal
After reading the story, Hamlet is highly unsatisfied with the marriage of his uncle, Claudius, to his own mother, Gertrude to gain power. Hamlet tries to talk some sense into his mother's head about marrying his uncle but is unsuccessful. I honestly feel sorry for Hamlet having to go through complications in his family. If I were have to put up into a situation like Hamlet, I would definitely try to prevent this from having as because it is disgusting having your own mother marry your uncle and the feeling of betrayal. However, the ghost of king Hamlet bring news to Hamlet that he was murdered by Claudius. If I were Hamlet and just letting my uncle kill my father getting away with it ain't going to happen and would try every possible way to prove him guilty or to kill him.
I had never experienced betrayal and disgusted like what Hamlet is going through because I trust my family friends and I doubt that they would betray me. People that I love are people with attitudes not like Gertrude or Claudius, they do not think about power nor are they greedy.
The words of choice of Shakespeare were unique and the combinations with slang's. He was really good at describing the surroundings of the characters and how they feel about it. His choice of vocabulary was difficult to understand and makes me think about its meaning. The setting and the clever use of the characters that were involved by a certain scene were all carefully planned out too.
The only portion of the play that still troubles me is when he was in the ball room talking to himself after the crowd had left. The clever use of sophisticated words confuses me of the meaning of what he was trying to say.
